The Art Cart has arrived! Starting the summer of 2015, the Exchange has brought this cartful of art supplies to venues throughout our area, from the Bloomsburg YMCA and Kiwanis day camps and the Children’s Museum to Brookdale Bloomsburg Senior Living and Balanced Care, to the Berwick and Danville public libraries, as well as the Danville Child Development Center, and we make monthly visits with the seniors living at Bloomsburg Towers. Our instructors bring projects in many media including painting and drawing, cut-out paper, and sculpture. They can tailor the projects to any age group and any size group.
The Exchange provides the Art Cart for free: Thanks to the Bloomsburg Area Community Foundation and the Bemis Foundation for start-up funding.
Thanks to the PPL Foundation, the Exchange has received a $2000 grant in June of 2016 to support our Art Cart project! Reaching everyone from preschool children to seniors in nursing facilities, the Art Cart helps to bring out the art that all of us have inside — and in the process, it brings joy.
“It thrills us that PPL has chosen to support the Art Cart,” says Exchange executive director Oren B. Helbok. “As an occasional Art Cart instructor myself, I have seen what a difference it makes in people’s lives to have the opportunity to make the world more beautiful, by sharing the beauty in each of us. We provide the Art Cart as a free service wherever it goes, and support from PPL as well as from individuals makes this service possible. We urge people to learn more about the Exchange and about the Art Cart, and to make contributions supporting our activities.”
Through strategic partnerships, the PPL Foundation supports organizations that do innovative and groundbreaking work to create vital, sustainable communities and to empower each citizen to fulfill her or his potential. The PPL Foundation contributes more than $2 million annually to a wide variety of non-profit organizations in northern and central Pennsylvania.

HELP WANTED: The Exchange needs Art Cart instructors — people with some experience teaching art to children and/or seniors. We pay an hourly rate to the instructors; mileage available to those who can transport the Cart as well as themselves.
