Since we opened our doors in February 2010 (less than 2 years ago), we have hosted 90 public events and 50 private ones in our Art Deco Grille Room, the expansive ballroom, and the retro 6-lane bowling alley – concerts, readings, plays, art exhibitions, fundraisers, cooking classes, art classes, the weekly Community Market, and of course 10-pin bowling parties. We have leased spaces to 15 artists, working in painting, sculpture, fabric, ceramics, photography, calligraphy, book binding, and figure drawing and to 6 small businesses including a picture framer, a baker, and a custom-hat-maker, as well as dealers in alpaca wool, vinyl LPs, and comic books, and 1 arts education non-profit. Along the 33 steps between the first and second floors, we opened the Stairwell Gallery and have hosted 5 exhibits since the spring. We have updated and certified the commercial-grade kitchen and installed energy-efficient heating and air conditioning. In the future: a renovated neon sign outside, and upgraded rest rooms, perhaps a clay studio . . . and you’ll help us get there!
