Due to circumstances beyond the control of the YMCA and the Moose Exchange, the two organizations announce that they have postponed the New Year’s Eve event originally scheduled for this Saturday, to the last evening of 2012. In the interim, no one will get any older . . .

For three Friday evenings this winter, Burgess, Mitchell, and Seal — a very well-known jazz trio in our area — bring their musicianship to the Exchange, performing for the benefit of Greenwood Friends School’s Greening Greenwood campaign. “The Santaland Diaries” is the perfect antidote to that relentless Christmas cheer. A holiday classic-in-the-making, this one-man show, adapted by Joe Mantello and directed by Elizabeth Dowd, featured Richie Cannaday in five performances in the Grille Room, ending Sunday the 11th. The audiences loved it!

Gallery 102 now has regular hours at the Exchange: Tuesday through Friday, noon to 6 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. We have an eclectic mix of paintings, drawings sculpture, jewelry, and photography in the lovely “fireplace room”. The gallery features work by artists from the Exchange and from our community — our wonderfully creative friends and neighbors. Artists represented include Annie Barnhardt, Gregory Owens, William Whitmoyer, Larry Ney II, Melissa Matthews, Doug Michael, Brian Hornberger, Sue O’Donnell, Michael P. Shanoski, Donna Shaffer, and Cindy McBeth-Collins.
On Saturday, the 3rd of December, the People’s Holiday Extravaganza comes to the Exchange, in the Bowling Alley, 11:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fine hand-crafts, jewelry, and sculpture, along with music and food, and free bowling! Brought to you by the PA Artisan Collective, this event coincides with the last weekend of Treefest, so feel free to stop in while you are out and about — come make a day of it downtown. Kids are welcome and so are parents and friends.
